Humpback Whale With Its Mouth Open
Humpbacks are baleen whales meaning they have these bristly plates rather than teeth. The purpose of baleen plates is to filter and trap the whale’s prey. With humpbacks, their diet mainly consists of krill and small fish. They eat around 3,000 pounds (1,360 kilograms) of food per day.
